A common misconception is that "having privilege" means someone has never struggled to get to where they are, that being privileged means you had it easy and were born with all that you needed.

This is not the case!

Being privileged doesn't mean you don't face hardships or struggles. It simply means you are not placed at a disadvantage in society based on your identity. Recognizing and addressing your own privilege is extremely important, but can be a difficult process. This is largely due to the stigma around privilege. This is an uncomfortable topic to discuss, but an important one.
